Privacy
Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law and the UAE’s PDPL give you the right to know what a service collects about you, why, and to have it deleted. This is the full list for jabber.sa.
Where it is kept
On our servers in Stockholm, Sweden.
What the server stores
- Your account. Your username, and your password as a salted SCRAM hash — never in plain text.
- Your email address, only if you chose to give one.
- Your contact list, profile and settings, so every device you sign in from sees the same ones.
- Messages sent while you are offline, until you reconnect and receive them.
- A message archive, so your devices stay in sync. Archived messages are deleted automatically after 14 days.
- Files you share through your app, so the people you send them to can download them.
- Server logs. The IP address you connect from and when, profile changes, and the messages that pass through the server. Messages encrypted with OMEMO appear in them only as encrypted text.
Why
To run the service, keep your devices in sync, and stop spam and abuse.
Encryption
Every connection to the server is encrypted. Turn on OMEMO end-to-end encryption whenever your app supports it. With it on, the server only relays messages it cannot read.
Deleting your account
Ask support@jabber.sa by email or from your Jabber account, and we will delete the account.
